An Australian man who vaulted across a fence and grabbed Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been sent away and prohibited from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, aged 26, was sentenced to more than a week in jail for causing a public disturbance and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the country's border control informed Singaporean press.

He forced his way past photographers and charged at the celebrity, who was participating in the Asian premier for the musical adaptation on 13 November. Co-star Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.

Wen has a history of disrupting concerts and celebrity events, including leaping onto the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in the past June.

The event provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with numerous people claiming he of re-traumatising Grande.

The singer has discussed experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at her concert in Manchester in spring of 2017 took the lives of over twenty people and hurt numerous attendees.

During Wen's trial, the judge was informed he had tried to gain access on the film's premiere twice, according to Singaporean media.

He then made a second attempt to breach security. Security staff intercepted him and restrained him.

He then uploaded recordings expressing gratitude to the star for permitting his access and said he was "free."

Law enforcement detained him the following day and brought charges against him with causing a disturbance, to which Wen pleaded guilty.

The District Judge the magistrate was referenced by Channel News Asia as saying that the man sought attention, commenting that he was wrong to assume he would not face any penalties.

Grande has not commented on the situation.

Erivo discussed the situation to the press, stating that she "only aimed to ensure my colleague was protected."

"I think he didn't mean us injury, but you cannot be certain with those things, and I sought to ensure that she was fine. That was my immediate response," she stated.
